Despite what the winemakers and the marketing folks will tell you, the best wine to pair with salmon is not pinot noir, whether from Oregon or anywhere else. No, the best wine with salmon is Oregon pinot gris.
At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it, as I explained in my column this week in The Washington Post.
What if the Pinot Gris came from Virginia? Would Salmon be the fish of choice?
